Spotted: Tim Gunn at the Mall

In A few of my favorite things, I Laugh in Your General Direction, Living inside my TV on December 11, 2010 at 8:07 pm

And looking fab, I might add–but when isn’t he?

I’ve been incredibly late to post this–but I saw Tim Gunn in the flesh. So I figure that’s pretty cool.

Tim made an appearance in Troy, MI several weekends ago for a fashion show at Somerset Mall, and according to the promotional poster, “tips on how to make it work for fall.” Here, he shows us how to create two different looks out of the same military jacket. Brilliant.

How to Effectively Judge People

In A few of my favorite things, Coffee, Just not a fan, Living inside my TV on December 5, 2010 at 3:17 am

Alright, another coffee/TV post? Does she ever shut up about that?

Okay, just hear me out. This time it actually involves interacting with others and having a life, I promise. Unless you count watching 30 Rock on Netflix by myself. What? I know you’ve done it.

Lately, I have observed that I form my opinions about people largely based on their affinity for coffee and 30 Rock. But the judging isn’t intentional, nor is it absolute. I just realize that people who can both handle a coffee and quote Tina get on my good side rather quickly.

There are some exceptions, though.

If you have the guts to admit that you’d take a nice Caramel Apple Cider (Keenan Noyes) over a cappuccino, I respect that. I only have a problem when someone claims they’re a “coffee person” and then shows me he or she clearly has no business being in a Starbucks.

Daily Dose of TV: You’re the Devil!

In A few of my favorite things, Living inside my TV on September 27, 2010 at 11:51 pm

This is the quickest post I will ever make–I would rarely post something without a week’s worth of mulling over and editing, but I have a few motivations for such rash writing;

  • I just had a bit of coffee and I’m highly focused on being distracted.
  • I’d really rather be blogging than obey my real agenda. To give you an idea of how desperate this situation is–right now I’m sitting at my desk in a full sweatshirt/sweatpants ensemble, plus red high heels, because they make my life just a little more exciting. Go ahead, judge.
  • House is on at 8, but I told myself that would be my break from homework, but now this is, and I’m sort of convinced I can still do both.
  • I still have yet to see the SNL season 36 premier with Amy Poehler, (in case you were wondering, that’s 1 point for Hannah’s Host Prediction List), which means I haven’t yet developed any opinions for the new Featured Players (which I will probably hate at first, because everyone does) and the disappearance of Will Forte (for which I am furious), and I have about 800 other things to say about every other NBC Thursday show that has recently premiered. So, I need a dose of TV. And you probably do, too.

Alright, but that’s enough, now. Here’s a clip of one of my favorite SNL sketches of all time: Mike Myers’s Phillip the Hyper Hypo. It is now a link because a little convenient video clip was not cooperating. But trust me, it’s worth waiting ten seconds to load and the Sprint commercial.

P.S. A tip about Hulu; if it says “Sorry, we can’t play this video for you because no one paid us,” they’re lying. Wait maybe 30 seconds and it’ll start.

Okay, now I’m really done.
